League Match and Club Championship Summary
League Matches
Tuesday night saw Heywood journey to Clitheroe to play out a Division 2 tie of the Central Lancashire Chess League. Clitheroe pulled off some impressive results resulting in them taking 3 from 5 against Heywood's 2 but the result changes nothing in the Division with Heywood finishing in second place. Well done to all the players who took part in this competition.
On Wednesday evening Heywood put a side together to travel over to Oldham to play against a team from Ashton. The Ashton side included some incredibly young, but talented members and it made for an interesting match and testament to the hosting club who clearly put in a lot of work to develop their junior players.
George, on Board 1, made his game last the duration and had the remaining players on tenterhooks in the closing stages. On the other hand Matthew was over and done in 7 moves! We've included this game in our game of the week section as proof that talented club players can have the occasional mishap!
With all games now concluded Heywood sit in second position however third place 3Cs have one more match to complete next week which may see a slight change in the pecking order.
Upcoming Matches
Next Tuesday Heywood will travel to Great Lever for a Vaux Cup tie and the following night will host Leyland in Division B of the Central Lancashire League. Heywood are currently in first spot closely followed by Leyland so this will be closely contested.
Club Competitions
