League Match and Club Championship Summary

League Matches

A home match this week as Heywood hosted a Great Harwood B side in the East Lanchashire Chess Association tie.  Division 2 is being closely contested but this week it seems that Great Harwood struggled a little for turnout.  Across the top three boards Great Harwood were 2.5 out of 3 but Heywood's boards 4 and 5 took the wins and the final board was unfilled from Great Harwood meaning the default point gave the overall match result to Heywood 3.5 - 2.5.  A little up the M66 Clitheroe played an intra club tie in which their C side beat their B side taking them to the top of the division leading Heywood in second by 1 point with both Burnley C and Blackburn Crusaders C a point behind in turn.  The full match card can be found here.

Upcoming Matches

Next week Heywood travel to Bolton to take on their third team in the Manchester Chess League.  After only 1 match so far in Division C Heywood are 1 from 1 so next week we'll be looking to continue the form and catch up to Ashton at the top of the division.

Club Competitions

Their were no club competition ties this week due to the league match and, quite possibly, the incredibly cold snap that has taken a grip of the North West.
